Bache-Martin is located in the Fairmount section of Center City Philadelphia. Adjacent to the Art Museum and the Schuylkill waterfront, the Fairmount community is rapidly growing. Many residential buildings are being rehabilitated as Fairmount has become a desirable place to raise a family.
The school recently received a three-year federal grant to convert the school to a project-based learning model. The students will learn through real-world projects and products, utilize many new forms of technology, and collaborate with community and corporate partners in their educational endeavors.

The campus includes two buildings, one of which is a magnificent historic structure with domes and courtyards. Thanks to a 2007 Campus Parks grant, Bache Martin renovated one of the interior courtyards to make an inviting and safe playspace for the children. They installed a soft playsurface as well as extensive landscaping, and the area is used throughout the day for recess and recreation. The school also boasts a newly completed cybrary, a state of the art research facility equipped with laptops, book and DVD stacks, plus small and large-group instructional areas. The cybrary exists through a partnership between the District and the Bache-Martin Home & School Association, and will form a cornerstone of the new project based learning program.
