Mission

Over the next two years, Bache will be engaged in a significant beautification effort with the Mural Arts Project.  The first phase will involve a major mural to be designed by the middle school students in collaboration with mural artists, and installed in the Middle School Academy’s lunchroom, which is located in the Bache building.   The mural will illustrate the slogan “Live Well, Go Green”.  The second phase will strive to connect, via exterior art, the Bache Building with the Martin Building.  It will involve 4 large scale mosaic/painted planters that will flank each school’s entranceway.  The third and final phase will take place in the Martin Building, and will pull themes from the school curriculum to be illustrated along the interior walls.

Bache-Martin provides a diverse array of extra curricular activities for the students.  They include:

Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball Team

Boys’ and Girls’ Track Team

Boys’ and Girls’ Volleyball Team

Chess Club

Math 24 Club

The school also offers an enriching after school child care program for families.

An active Home and School Association provides support and resources to the school. Bache boasts an excellent staff of veteran teachers, most with advanced degrees. Students benefit from a variety of special events throughout the year such as Spirit Day, Scholastic Book Fairs, Winter Carnival, MLK Day of Service, and Philadelphia CARES Day. The neighborhood community provides additional support. A long-standing orchestral music program is a signature of the school.

Campus Features

The campus includes two buildings, one of which is a magnificent historic structure with domes and courtyards. Thanks to a 2007 Campus Parks grant, Bache Martin renovated one of the interior courtyards to make an inviting and safe playspace for the children.  They installed a soft playsurface as well as extensive landscaping, and the area is used throughout the day for recess and recreation.  The school also boasts a newly completed cybrary, a state of the art research facility equipped with laptops, book and DVD stacks, plus small and large-group instructional areas. The cybrary exists through a partnership between the District and the Bache-Martin Home & School Association, and will form a cornerstone of the new project based learning program.
