The Greenfield Home and School Association is highly involved in the daily activities of the school. Under the Home & School's leadership, Greenfield parents have completed a campus improvement project with planting and landscaping upgrades, interior and exterior paint, lobby beautification, cafeteria and library renovations, and the acquisition of artwork.
The Home & School Association has formed extensive partnerships with the business community, and created a "teacher fund" for supplemental classroom supplies. Throughout the year, they plan an array of special events for the students, manage the school store, and are active participants in the day-to day-activities at Greenfield--they work in classrooms, in the library, and provide support to teachers and students in a variety of ways.
“Parents In the Playground”, or PIP, is a program launched in 2009 by the Home & School Association. It brings parent volunteers to the school at lunchtime to provide additional playground supervision. Parents receive specialized training, and are then able to support the staff while the children enjoy recess. Because of the additional adult presence, children are afforded more recreational opportunities—new toys and equipment have been purchased as a result of PIP and children are enjoying a safer, more stimulating and active recreational period.
Home & School has also recruited and funded both an artist and a musician to provide enrichment and instruction to Greenfield students in these areas.
A high proportion of the instructional staff holds advanced degrees in addition to extensive teaching experience.
Annual school-wide events include: a Spring Fair; Candy Sale; Dance Week; Scholastic Book Fair; Multi-cultural Dinner; Silent Auction; Flea Market; Beautification Days; Career Day; Family Bingo Night; Family Movie Night; Winter and Spring Concerts; Piano Recital; and Volunteer Thank You Luncheon.
Extracurricular activities sponsored by the school include Scrabble Club, Homework Club, Science Club, Health Club, Art Club, Yoga Club, Spanish Club, String Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Newspaper, Yearbook, American Girl Club, Business Club, Student Council, Learning Club, Safety Patrol, Sports Club, Kickball, Chess Club, Math 24 Club.
Greenfield also offers a significant Athletic Program that provides opportunities for students to compete throughout the school year. Fall Sports include coed soccer and girls’ volleyball. In winter, Greenfield offers both boys’ and girls’ basketball teams. In spring, they field a coed track team, a boys’ volleyball team, and a girls’ softball team.
