Mission

I have had the pleasure of being the principal of Kearny for 16 years. At Kearny there is a strong focus on academics and discipline. Kearny students are often featured in the news for their outstanding achievements. Their success is our success, reflecting the positive school culture and high expectations we maintain. My vision for Kearny is continually evolving.

Recently, we have begun focusing on recruitment from Northern Liberties and have significantly increased enrollment from our neighborhood for the upcoming school year. Community outreach is an ongoing initiative embraced by both the school and the neighborhood. As Kearny moves into the 2008-2009 school year, I hope to attract an increasingly diverse student population both from our immediate community and city wide so our students can be exposed to diverse cultures, share different life experiences and embrace a variety of learning opportunities.

Campus Features

Kearny is slated for a significant expansion over the next two years. Formerly a K-6 school, Kearny recently converted to K-8 and will construct a new wing to house the upper school.   Recent additions to the school include a state of the art cybrary, a new science laboratory and outdoor basketball courts.  In addition, Kearny has been selected to receive a campus park upgrade, which will include a grass play area, tables and benches, a playstructure, and trees. The campus park will greatly enhance the schoolyard setting. It will also become a neighborhood destination, welcoming families from the Northern Liberties community after school and on weekends.
