McCall’s state-of-the-art cybrary is a model for educational technology at its best. Newly completed for the 2006-07 academic year, the cybrary is a fully staffed research center complete with a  Promethean Board, computer lab, laptops, interactive video conferencing and production capability, photographic and musical equipment, small and large group instructional areas and stacks of books and periodicals. The cybrary was provided by the School District, augmented with funds raised by the McCall Home & School Association.

The Home & School Association has been actively involved in a Technology Drive to equip all classrooms with Promethean Boards.  Through their fundraising efforts and the support of the School District of Philadelphia, the school has been fully equipped with Promethean Boards in every classroom.

2009 marks the Centennial year for McCall School.  In honor of this milestone, the Home & School Association has launched a series of celebrations which will raise funds for a brand new science lab.   The facility, slated for completion in 2011, will serve the entire school by bringing the science curriculum to life.

Campus Features

McCall’s school yard provides a variety of activities for the students’ recreation.  The playset offers the latest in climbers, bridges, slides and bars, all in accordance with all safety and ADA codes, set atop a soft rubber surface. In addition, the entire schoolyard was recently repaved, and new, attractive tubular steel fencing was installed around the perimeter. Under the direction of the Physical Education Teacher, McCall has implemented “Socialized Recess”, which has clearly delineated areas of the yard for a variety of recreational activities such as handball, jump rope, hopscotch, 4-Square, and basketball.

McCall also has a mural courtesy of the Mural Arts Program with support from Fleisher Art Memorial. The mural, which was designed, created, and installed by the upper school students under the direction of local artist David McShane, depicts a “health and fitness” theme. The mural is in the gymnasium, which doubles as the lunchroom, and portrays a variety of children engaging in fitness and sports activities, surrounded by healthy foods. It has greatly enhanced the space and creates a constant reminder to the children of the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
