The Laura Wheeler Waring School is located in the beautiful Fairmount section of Philadelphia. The neighborhood is experiencing rapid gentrification with many beautiful townhouses and restaurants. Located near the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Fairmount neighborhood is one of culture and excitement.
The Philadelphia Inquirer recently cited Waring as one of the “10 Most Improved Schools in Pennsylvania.” Waring also received the Keystone Award, which recognizes significant improvement in a school’s performance.

Waring is located adjacent to a Department of Recreation playing field and playground. The school has a modern computer lab and two science labs. Waring is scheduled for major renovations in the coming year—new fencing, gardens, and other external improvements, technology and facility upgrades for the library, and a variety of other work to the hallways, bathrooms, stairwell, cafeteria and playroom. The mini-theater, newly installed by the Walnut Street Theatre, will serve as a performance space for Waring students in the future.
